Privacy at PieSpot
PieSpot helps you discover pie shops, view them on a map, and save favourites. This notice explains what the current website stores and which external services it uses.
Information stored on your device
The website uses browser storage for preferences and features such as your selected city, saved PieSpot locations, locally created reviews, and cached shop or pie information. This data stays in that browser unless a clearly enabled online sync feature is available.
Location and map services
If you allow location access, the browser supplies approximate coordinates so PieSpot can sort or search nearby places. Map and place searches use Google Maps Platform and Google Places. Google may process your IP address, map interactions, search terms, and approximate location under the Google Privacy Policy.
For some locations, PieSpot may ask the OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to convert coordinates into a readable place name. That request can include coordinates, IP address, language preference, and the referring website. OpenStreetMap data is credited to OpenStreetMap contributors.
Online data service
The website is designed to work locally first. A Supabase read-only sync may be enabled by the site operator for published shop and pie records. Anonymous browser writes are disabled until authenticated ownership and moderation controls are introduced.
Your choices
- Decline location permission and browse by selected city.
- Remove location permission in your browser settings.
- Clear PieSpot site data in your browser to remove saved local preferences and favourites.
Future iOS app
The future PieSpot iOS app will receive its own privacy details before release, including any app-specific permissions, account features, analytics, or notifications.
Changes
This notice will be updated when PieSpot adds a new data feature or changes a service provider. Last updated 25 August 2026.
